Sony Ericsson Z780

As we all predicted before, Sony Ericsson finally announced two handsets made for mid-range users. The handsets came from G and Z series and named Sony Ericsson G502 and Sony Ericsson Z780. For your information, some skeptic sides said that the announcement was merely an effort from Sony Ericsson to distract investors from their 48% profit downturn compared to Q1 of last year.

Each phone is clearly designed to take its position among web-enabled phones but in different directions. The Z780 expands the company’s range of devices for markets outside of Europe and the compact G502 brings the power of the web to a mainstream audience.

SE Z780

A picture of the Sony Ericsson Z780 was posted by the Sony Ericsson Blog recently. In the picture, the Z780 was shown in different angles in size of little thumbnails.

A while a go the Sony Ericsson Mobile Company was preparing for the launch of the new flip-candy phone known as the Z780. Z780

Recently, SEMC Blog has posted an interesting screen shot of the Sony Ericsson Z780. The phone that Sony Ericsson refuses to announce at CTIA has a very similar design with the Sony Ericsson Z770. Some say that this is the US version of the Z770i with support for 1900 MHz HSDPA. But they’re not so sure though. But one thing for sure, this phone is real. Well, there is only one way to find out – wait for the official announcement!

Some buzzes have been around on the Sony Ericsson Z780 one day before CTIA begins. The rumor said that Sony Ericsson had announced a clamshell phone similar to the Z2780 at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona in February with the name of Z770i, a clamshell phone optimized for the Internet and was HSDPA enabled for faster browsing.

The Z780 is expected to have similar specifications but probably optimised for an American carrier with support for 1900 Mhz HSDPA, the band used in the US (unlike 2100 Mhz in Europe and other countries). A product page for the Z780 has popped up on Sony Ericsson’s website, which is a sign that the announcement is just a few hours away. We will keep our eyes peeled for this one.
