The newest NPD report seems not to be a surprise. Android devices have scurried accross US carriers. With their very competitive prices, Android devices have got good sales in the country.

The data comes from self-reported online consumer surveys of NPD, not the corporate sales info that may change their numbers.

The NPD first quarter report of US smartphones shows RIM at 36%, Android at 28% and Apple at 21%. Since June 2009, no new model came from Apple.

As for the carriers, Verizon Wireless and AT&T are on par. This is caused by the strong sales of Droid, Droid Eris, and Blackberry Curve on Verizon. The next place is T-Mobile then Sprint.

Said executive director of industry analysis for NPD, Rubin:

“Recent previews of BlackBerry 6, the recently announced acquisition of Palm by HP, and the pending release of Windows Phone 7 demonstrates the industry’s willingness to make investments to address consumer demand for smartphones and other mobile devices. Carriers continue to offer attractive pricing for devices, but will need to present other data-plan options to attract more customers in the future.”

This good news for all text-happy teens has come from internal Verizon report. According to the report,there is a screenshot that seems to tell that social media phones from Microsoft, the Kin will be ready soon for pre ordering on May 13.

This social media phone had been announced by Microsoft in last month, and that time the company said that the pre order will be in May through Verizon Wireless . So the time is coming…and this may not a surprise anymore for you all…but at least you have a confirmation..

A new iPhone will come this Summer, it is not a surprise anymore. While previously you might think it would be iPhone 4G, it seems that the new iPhone will be called iPhone HD. It comes with a front-facing camera, multi tasking features and a 960×640 pixel display as well.

According to the info, iPhone HD will be announced officially in June 22. The phone would be made available thru Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. Another rumor from Wall Street Journal says that the new iPhone will be in two which one of them will be manufactured by Pegatron Technology and it can be launched thru Verizon after September.

As for another new iPhone (perhaps GSM/HSPA model) will be manufactured by Hon Hai Precision or Foxconn, the same company of previous iPhone.

This one is about the next Motorola Android phone for Verizon. The name is Motorola Devour. The previous rumors had talked about the phone and after it the spy shots had appeared and finally the phone gets closer now.

According to AndroidCentral, the first look of the Motorola Devour retail box has been reported. Not sure whether this photo is right retail box as it looks too big especially compared with that of Motorola Droid that slim and minimalist. Besides, it is too advertise-y.

So the conclusion is the image probably is not Devour retail box, it is merely the pre-release demo unit box that has been shipped to Verizon store manager. Considering the demo unit has been shipped to Verizon, so the launching time will be very soon, maybe not more than a few weeks.

Finally the rumors get the truth. Google had presented their phone, Nexus One at Android press event.

I think you have known some specs of this phone including Teflon coated body,1GHz Snapdragon CPU, accelerometer, 5Mpx camera with LED flash,a multicolored status alerting trackball, GPS, digital compass, proximily and light sensor, a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. Other than it, this phone touts 802.11n Wi-Fi support. Nexus One will run on Android 2.1.

This phone is the first phone sold by Google. It brings HTC branding like sample. The customer dont have to go to store to get this phone. They only need Google as well as Google Checkout account to buy the phone and activate the phone. You may order the custom text that will be engraved to the back of the phone.
