A rumor comes from Wall Street Journal has been around. According to this rumor Sony will develop its portable multimedia device that featured with online service.

The device seems to be the iPad’s rival. It is a combination of e-reader, gaming machine, netbook and will be connected to Sony Online Service that comes with movies, TV episodes, games and so on. The available games on this service are recycled PlayStation games and according to the plan, those games will be available for a wide range of mobile and portable devices. According to the company this iPad killer will be available sometime in 2010.

Another plan of Sony is a smartphone that built in conjunction with Ericsson. This smartphone will be capable of downloading and playing PlayStation games.

AU KDDI is a Japanese network that recently has announced their new phones. The phones are in the winter range. Sony Ericsson seems to take place by contributing their some new models.

Previously AU KDDI has announced their device that seems to target the older customers. In other side, they also have announced the U1 that becomes their first Bravia device.

This waterproof handset, Bravia has arisen before NTT DoCoMo. As for the AU, Bravia is the first one. Bravia features 3? WVGA screen based on Sony’s Bravia technology as well as Sony Blu-ray forwarding technology. So it means that the user can hook up the device.

At previous, we have known the issue of in-fighting in Sony Ericsson joint venture about PSP Phone which Sony had refused to give PSP Phone licence to Sony Ericsson. Now Sony is working on the next plan of them, cellphone game gear hybrid. This future PlayStation smartphone of Sony may will be competitor for iPod and iPhone of Apple as the new choice outside the traditional gaming such as Nintendo’s DS and Sony’s PlayStation Portable.

As we know the future for Google’s Android looks bright. Android Operating System will be applied to many devices, start from MP3, mobile phone, Internet device, netbook, tablet and others. Even at latest news, we have heard about AutoLinQ which is powered by Google Android. AutoLinQ is collaboration within Google, Ford, T-Mobile, Wind River and some other companies. Sony for the first time reports its fiscal year loss that reaches $1 billion or ¥8.9. This fiscal year ends in March 2009. In the previous report that ends in March 2008, Sony had gained ¥369.4 billion profit. Overall sales decrease 12.9% with the details: US sales drops to 20%, European 17% and Japanese 14%.

At least there is a good news from Sony in relation with PSP sales that increase from 13.8 million to 14.1 million for PSP sales. As for the PS3 sales, they increase 10% YoY. But there is still a lag when comparing Microsoft and Nintendo gaming products with those of Sony.

A German technology magazine said that Ericsson, part of Sony, wants to end its joint venture in Sony Ericsson. Ericsson had approached Sony to talk about the plan, although there is a big problem will arise, financing.

Many questions are still waiting to be answered. Whether the standalone phone manufacture will survive? Will Sony realize its pledge to make Symbian Foundation handsets for the market?

So far, Sony Ericsson had been included in the top five phone manufactures in the world for years. Still unknown why this giant wants to out from Sony Ericsson joint venture. Further more, Sony Ericsson is known as its preference, offering the best features in a competitive price. The Sony also had given the best in its class as well.

Kaz Hirai that previously is PlayStation boss, had been promoted to be the Sony Network Products and Services division’s head in a reshuffle. Previously, he had been assigned for PlayStation Network service platform expansion. So this way, he will be in different field, the Walkman brand, Vaio devices and the new mobile products instead of PlayStation.

Further more, Sony also had said that new mobile product will be launched. Is that a PSP phone? Or it can be the new PSP2. Maybe Sony wants to produce its own PSP phone as Sony Ericsson had been blocked to develop such the phone.

Lastly, whether it is possible that PlayStation Network connected up by Sony gadget? Take for instance, perhaps for downloading video rather just for gaming? We wait for the product as Sir Howard Stringer as Sony SEO had formed Sony United that probably produces the PSP phone.
