Anyway, the Sony Ericsson Satio’s name was initially Idou, and it was first introduced in the Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona. So I am pretty sure that Sony Ericsson Satio is this year’s phone of the Swedish-Japanese manufacturer.

Specs wise, Sony Ericsson Satio has a 12-megapixel camera (no CyberShot) with Xenon flash, 3.5-inch widescreen touchscreen display, and DLNA-compatible WiFi and GPS receivers. And hopefully, the U.S. version will also support 3G network

Lately, Samsung launched a solar panel phone called “Blue Earth“. LG also dimilar thing with their newest planet-saving device. What is Sony Ericsson answer for this trend? According to an interview with Head of Sustainability Mats Pellbäck-Scharp up on Omio,  Sony Ericsson will not release a single phone with Solar Panel Gimmick. Rather than this, Sony Ericsson are pushing the GreenHeart initiative which showcases innovative methods such as e-manuals and energy saving phone chargers.

He in fact says that the effort and energy consumed adding solar panels to a handset in production is not actually offset by it’s usage, actually doing more harm than good!

Well, we believe so. A report from Digi Times quotes Carl-Henric Svanberg, president and CEO of Ericsson, who also serves on the board of Sony Ericsson, saying that Sony Ericsson might be evaluating the possibility of manufacturing TD-SCDMA — the technology on which Chinese networks run — for the Chinese market. Svanberg indicated Sony Ericsson has already had some talk with China Mobile for the possible purchase of Sony Ericsson’s TD-SCDMA handsets.

Police assumed the thievery had happened between 5pm on Monday evening and 8am Tuesday morning, 2009-01-14 .

15 different mobile phone prototypes from Sony Ericsson’s development lab, a laptop reported missing from the office, as well as hundreds of other mobile phones are found after a search warrant is issued upon a 35-year-old man’s home on the next day, who has a “working relationship” with the company, and who is the first suspect of the crime. So far, the motive within grasp was purely money. In rough estimation, the prototypes totally cost for about 750.000 kronor, or roughly $ 90,000 in US Currency.

Police refused to release any information about what the 35-year-old may have said during the interrogation, however, as they suspect other people may have been involved and don’t want to compromise the investigation

Al Jazeera, Qatar based news network that become popular since Iraq war, has announced a partnership with Sony Ericsson to bring headline news straight to mobile phones in both English and Arabic. The partnership will allow Al Jazeera to provide built-in RSS feed links into the software of several Sony Ericsson devices in the Middle East and North Africa. News networks and newspapers have been integrating more mobile technology in order to reach audiences.

This is a continuation of Al Jazeera’s New Media initiative, which has seen them launch a lot of internet projects. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and the iPhone all have an Al Jazeera presence. Like India, a huge amount of internet access in the MENA region is done on mobile devices, so this should make Al Jazeera dramatically easier to access amongst it’s main audience.

Previously, we reported that Mobinnova will be Sony Ericsson partner to make the next Xperia in 2009. But apparently Mobinnove is not the only partner. Sony Ericsson is still in the process of looking for a company for its next Windows Mobile smartphone’s production, and aside from Mobinnova, FIH and Pegatron Technology are also vying for the opportunity. HTC is not among the candidates.

Though this part of the manufacturing process shouldn’t have to take long, industry sources have noted that SE will only begin to finalize details of its deal with the prospective partner sometime in the first quarter of 2009. By then, all the work on the actual manufacturing will begin, and the official launch of the next Sony Ericsson Windows Mobile phone is expected before the end of 2009 at the earliest.

Sony Ericsson has left UIQ behind and join with Open Handset Alliance to develop Android phones. This is a BIG move and I hope will make Sony Ericsson better in the future. Countless blogs and websites are now reporting that Sony Ericsson is ready with an Android-based handset in summer 2009, and even say it’s an official statement from the manufacturer. Well… Had they been paying attention to what was said in the press release rather than anything else, they should have known that this is literally impossible. One site even refers to Sony Ericsson’s Swedish PR-contact Gustaf Brusewitz as “Garfield Brusewitz” – you’ve got to give them credit for paying attention and getting the facts right!
