The new patent from Sony Ericsson was called “portable electronic device with multiple input interfaces”. It looks like the new device was aimed to provide several functions in a single device to avoid old and inconvenient way of carrying two or more devices to perform different functions.
The present invention relates to an electronic device having multiple input interfaces. In one embodiment of the invention, the electronic device comprises a main body, a reversible flip attached to the main body, a first input interface on the main body, a second input interface on a first side of the flip, and a third input interface on a second side of the flip. The first input interface may be positioned on the main body so that it is covered by the flip when the flip is in a closed position. Thus, either the second or third input interfaces are presented to the user when the flip is closed. The user opens the flip to access the first input interface.

One of the biggest phones enemy is water! For this reason, Sony Ericsson intends to go where no other camera phone has gone before – under water! The company is working on a waterproof housing accessory that would protect the phone from moisture but at the same time has a clear window for the camera lens for clicking pictures. We have just one question, why would someone take his cellphone while taking a dip in the ocean/lake/pool? Nevertheless, Sony Ericsson probably thinks that people will do so.
Here the patent abstract:
A housing may include a first portion that includes a window configured to allow a lens to capture images viewed through the window, and a first mating surface. The housing may include a second portion that includes a second mating surface adapted to mate with the first mating surface to form a watertight seal, at least one button to provide a signal to a terminal supported in the second portion, and a receiving surface on an inner surface of the second portion adapted to receive an insert, where the insert is adapted to be removeably coupled to the receiving surface on a first side and to receive the terminal via a second side.

After failed twice, You learned what should to do or not to do. So does with Nokia, I guess… After N-Gage n N-Gage QD, now Nokia has an even better idea - portable gaming console with mobile phone and camera functionality. They are planning a new gaming handset that actually resembles a standalone gaming console!. The device has a wide screen and two sliding controls that morph the phone into a fully-equipped gaming machine. According to the patent, users will be able to play games on the small screen or hook the thing to a television to play games on a bigger display. Oh and before we forget, you would even be able to control robots or toy cars (we’d like to believe the latter). We just hope that we get vibration alerts when we bump into other cars or crash ours!
Well Sony Ericsson, just launch the PSP phone soon or pepole will takes this Nokia gaming phone!
