Lately, Samsung launched a solar panel phone called “Blue Earth“. LG also dimilar thing with their newest planet-saving device. What is Sony Ericsson answer for this trend? According to an interview with Head of Sustainability Mats Pellbäck-Scharp up on Omio,  Sony Ericsson will not release a single phone with Solar Panel Gimmick. Rather than this, Sony Ericsson are pushing the GreenHeart initiative which showcases innovative methods such as e-manuals and energy saving phone chargers.

He in fact says that the effort and energy consumed adding solar panels to a handset in production is not actually offset by it’s usage, actually doing more harm than good!

Recently in PSFK there’s a post that tells us that Greenpeace analyze products from some vendors. Why some? Greenpeace only analyze product from vendor who want to submit their product voluntarily. Isn’t it awesome? The companies who refused to submit included: Acer, Apple, Asus, Creative, Microsoft, Nintendo, Palm, and Sharp. (Download Full Document Here)
