Considering how people are attracted to the XPERIA X1, I already predicted that the clone/imitation of the phone will come immediately. You can see the clone in the picture above. This X1 clone has pretty decent specifications and has a pretty similar design with the X1 (even though it’s a bit uglier than the original one).
The fake X1 sports the full QWERTY keyboard, 5 megapixel camera, 3-inch touchscreen that can display 16 million colors, and a built-in TV tuner. Too bad it’s a rip-off and doesn’t run Windows Mobile but some Chinese mobile operating system. And no, we don’t recommend getting one of these…

You’ve been informed about the buzz that might happen at CTIA related to the XPERIA X1 and the “Sony Ericsson denied to talk about” Windows Mobile 6 operating system. Finally, Sony Ericsson has officially announced that XPERIA X1 will definitely use the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system.
Se-nse predict that the reviews will start rolling in quite slowly and release is still set to 2nd half 2008.

MobileBurn’s Michael Oryl got the chance to play around with Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1 at the CTIA Wireless 2008 show, Las Vegas. One of the big questions around the X1 has been “what do the panels do?” Well, now we know. They provide quick access to both apps and different home screens, as you can see in the video demo below.
At the end of the demo we see the very cool “fish” panel that actually shows status information about things like battery levels and missed calls. It is not the most practical thing in the world, but it is a good example of what can be done with the panels system. Sony Ericsson’s Suzanne Cross, the voice in the video, said that the company was courting 3rd party developers to create new panels.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 can be considered as the most anticipated Windows Mobile Powered device today with its high-res touchscreen, the design that oozes sexiness and sliding QWERTY superphone. Some of online retailers are offering pre-orders of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA to attract buyers with some advantages.
MobileCityOnline’s corner of the internet provides the XPERIA X1 for $999 - that’s $200 less than the $1199 retail price. Keep in mind that there is no official retail price set for the X1, not to mention any carrier-subsidized pricing. These retailers are just making up prices for better or worse.
And, as such, pre-order pricing on the X1 is like Britney Spears on a bad day - it’s all over the place. For instance, WirelessGalaxy wants you to believe that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 is worth a whopping $1428 - discounted from their own special retail price of $1500.

Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X1 attended the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and Mobile Asia in New Delhi. But one thing was different in Mobile Asia - the X1 in a silver, brushed-metal surface. Even the official pictures show only the black X1. So from where did the silver version come? Is it just a prototype or does Sony Ericsson intend to launch in various hues?

Yes! after some rumors about X1 delay, it looks like those eagerly waiting to get their hands on Sony Ericsson’s HTC-made XPERIA X1 can rest a little easier, as the much anticipated apparently is still on track for release in the second half of this year, and not in February 2009 as recently rumored. That word comes straight from Sony Ericsson Corporate Vice President of the Global Communications Aldo Liguori, who told the USEB that “I can confirm that we will be launching the X1 product in 2nd Half of 2008, as per our announcement of 10th February.” That sure is about as definitive as you can get, though we’re guessing there’s plenty of folks out there that think any date other than tomorrow is too long to wait.

Oh no! I hope this is not true! A table of release dates dug up on Sony Ericsson’s own site suggests something powerfully depressing, which is that the XPERIA X1 has been pushed all the way out to February 10, 2009 (notice that the date is in European format — we’d just give up now if it were actually October 2, 2009). While the presence of the page on the company’s very own domain is pretty damning evidence, we’re still holding out hope that it’s a typo or an oversight; late Q2 of ‘08 was mentioned at MWC, and we really don’t see how it’s possible to push out a phone nearly three-quarters of a year just weeks after its initial announcement. Please tell us we’re right on this one, Sony Ericsson. Please.
As history with both SE smartphones and HTC Shift shows, delays do happen sometimes. Let’s just hope that XPERIA X1 is not such case.

We know that XPERIA X1 will be release on the late of this year. So it’s normal if the phone should use latest OS of Windows Mobile. But the newest WM OS will debut in September or October and it will bring some major changes to the interface. Microsoft will not happy if this OS leaked.
Now check out these photos of the XPERIA X1. It clearly shows that it’s running Windows Mobile 6.1, which is not announced yet. This was why the Sony Ericsson representatives would not show any more of the operating system or demo anything but the XPERIA panels on the X1. Furthermore it shows that X1 is running a 528 MHz CPU with the Qualcomm 7200A chipset. More pictures after the jump
