Good news for Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 users. In the coming weeks you will get an OTA (over the air) update for Android 2.2 Froyo for improving the speed and responsiveness of this best selling smartphone in Japan. The announcement was made on an official blog citing that the update will carry speed improvements in messaging tasks and camera UI specifically. Android 2.2 comes with many other useful features apart from flash 10.1, native internet tethering and application manager.

Finally the second firmware update for Sony Ericsson Aino has been available. This touch driven phone gets firmware update with the improved stability, new themes and reduced power usage. So that now the Aino user will get longer battery life. The other addition in this firmware are support for new video codec (MIME-type MPEG4-generic), enhanced Bluetooth and WLAN coexistence and like mentioned above there will be 3 new themes for you.

What’s more, Aino user also gets Bubble Town 2, a new game.

According to the previous Sony Ericsson’s commitment, the firmware updates will be delivered thru the whole portfolio. So that previously we had known the firmware update for the other Sony Ericsson phones like Satio, Xperia X2 and Yari earlier in 2010. Satio had got WVGA video recording, direct upload to Facebook and YouTube and DLNA support. Xperia X2 had been granted with video telephony and FM radio app. Finally Yari got new game as well as improved battery life.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 gets firmware update for the first time. This new firmware (MR1) should be available in most markets, though some countries may have to wait for an additional day or two.

Here’s what’s changed:

  • MR1 is built on a new core platform release from Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) including a newer version of IE6.
  • Stability improvements are everywhere – SlideView, Panel manager and TileWave included.
  • Performance improvements focused on rotation and touch performance, the camera, web browsing, the software keyboard and audio streaming.

Finally another new update for Sony Ericsson Satio has came. This new update brings the capability of WVGA (864 x 480 pixels) video recording to the currently available VGA capabilities. Of course, some other stuffs are also available like direct Facebook and YouTube uploads.

Another stuffs are DLNA support, threaded messaging as well as various UI improvements. So far there is no information Satio will get the Vivaz’s homescreen.

According to the Sony Ericsson official blog, this Satio update will be released as soon as possible and it can be in this weekend. The first availability is region-specific and it will be available for wider consumers in the next week.

HTC DROID has got its OTA update, according to Verizon. This new update brings 1.16.605.1 for the ROM and the version for radio is v2.32.40.11.09.

As usual, this update will be available for a small number of users then it will spread in upcoming day.

The following are some fixes and the documentations can be checked on Verizon:

· While on a call and your device is in its screensaver mode, pressing End key can take out it from screensaver mode then pressing it again can end that call
· Improved speaker icon and on-call mute functionality
· Improved functionality once a user has activated eliminates the delay when receiving the first call.

Previously we had heard that Satio had been pulled out from some UK retailers due to software glitch problem. For this time it seems that the phone has got the solution with the announced firmware update, R1CA037.

According to gsmarena.com, Sony Ericsson representative told that this latest firmware update would be announced as soon as possible to the public once the uploading process had finished. Currently they are uploading all the needed files and scripts to the net.

There are some specific firmwares from the operators, so it will need time before those all are up. However you can check out whether you are the lucky one for getting the update early. For you who have not yet owned Satio and would like to get one, you should be happy with this, as the Satio’s issue has been solved right now.

Some days ago, Sony Ericsson Satio had got the issue of software glitch. Due to this reason, the smartphone had been pulled from UK retailers. A small effect also had been occurred to Aino and the company had promised to release the software fix in future.

So it seems Sony Ericsson has made effort to solve this issue. Yesterday the company had released the firmware fix for Satio. So, the 12 Mpx smartphone should be available for sale again in the retailers in the near future.

Further more, the company confirmed that the Satio problem could not be fixed through OTA so the users must get the new firmware.
