Android 2.2 Powered Samsung Galaxy Tab with Phone Function

Samsung has finally announced their tab, Samsung Galaxy Tab following the rumors. Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000, unlike other tab, this 7” tablet has voice call function, up to 7 hours of video playback. The tab support DivX and flash video format. The best of it is, it is running on Android operation system that may enhance UI experience on the WSVGA tab screen.

Sporting a WSVGA resolution 7” screen, this tab also brings 1GHz Cortex-A8 processor on board and 512MB RAM as well as PowerVR SGX540 graphics. This device as shown in the picture will run Android 2.2 Froyo, but not like other Samsung’s Android device, this tab will exclude TouchWiz skin.

Able to make calls, this tab has GSM/GPRS/EDGE along with HSDPA connectivity. But not only calls, this device is able to do SMS and MMS, even more the device can make video calls with a front facing secondary 1.3 megapixel camera support. Not quite special though but this device has 3 megapixel camera at the back.


It measures 190.1 x 120.5 x 11.98mm and weighs 380g and it is available in two variant, the 16GB and the 32GB. Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n like 30 pin data connector is also attaching on board. HDMI out port is also provided here, plus a few of video format range like DivX, XviD, H.264, and Flash 10.1.

For those who enjoy reading, this tab offers Readers Hub that provides an access to over 2 million books, thousands of magazine and also newspaper. A direct access to Android Market is available in the phone if ever you want to add more apps or games. This Samsung Galaxy Tab will be launch for the first time in Italy on mid-September then continue to the U.S, Asia and Korea in following moths.

    This is my first time to get so high tech – Samsung Galaxy Tab which is reallly perfect tab but I also have the same problem with you.
    Galaxy supported video formats: MPEG4, H.263, H.264, DivX, XviD, WMV, AVI, 3GP. The way I resolve this problem is decoding my video to formats that my phone supports.

    Via google, I find Aunsoft Video Converter which is powerful in converting various video formts to Samsung Galaxy Tab video format listed above .
    I believe It will help you out.
