Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 vs Nokia N96
Although Xperia X1 and N96 using a different operating system, both phones are the flagship phone for each vendor. When you plan to buy an expensive phone, then Xperia or N96 is a goog choice. The problem is, which is better? Now it’s time to let the two beasts out of their cages and let them in into the arena. Let the first battle begin!
Looking at the N96, you will realized that it is made just out of plastic, without some highlights like a metal battery cover (ie: E66 or E71). Otherwise, the Xperia X1 has very good feel in hand because It’s made mainly out of steel. Besides the keys and some parts on the back everything is in nobly and stylish metal.
After using the X1 several days than switched back to the N96, N96 just felt like a toy compared to the X1. More over, some parts such as the D-pad make some strange noises which are sometimes annoying. Nevertheless, the result is obvious - the X1 wins due to its awesome and metal built quality. I really would like to see a Nseries device built like the X1. Winner: Xperia X1
Both Nokia N96 and Xperia X1 are big devices since features a huge screen. N96’s dimensions are 103 x 55 x 18 mm, X1’s dimensions are 110.5 x 52.6 x 17 mm. So, the N96 is a little bit wider whereby the X1 is a little bit taller. The X1 weights 145g and the N96 125g which you can really feel. As the X1 is built mainly out of metal it is obvious that it is ways heavier than the N96. Nevertheless the N96 wins this round due to its weight, comfort in the hand and its size. Winner: N96
Based on user experience, 3.2 mp camera from X1 is better than the 5mp from the n96. Of course the picture taken with the n96 is bigger but the 3.2 from the sony ericsson is sharper. The camera of the xperia is good. Its sharp but the only thing i’m missing is the xenon flash. Otherwise, N96 has dual Xenon flash that very powerful. Winner: ?
If you like something more MOBILE PHONE I say you better pick the N96! It’s lighter, smaller and more daily used, has more storage for your Multi-Media. And if you’re willing to get something more of a COMPUTER, then your choice is non other than the Xperia X1. It has a beautiful large WXGA 800×480px Touch Screen, 3X bigger RAM than the N96, almost double the processing power, an ATI graphics chip, a Windows 6.1 professional, and more.
