Sony Ericsson P1i Disassembly

Your P1i getting old and need to repair or change some parts? Well, you can go to service center for easy solution. But if you think you can fix the phone by yourself, here some simple disassembly guide for you.

To disassembling SE P1i, all you need are Torx 6 screwdriver, Phillips size 0 screwdriver. You can get these tools here

First remove the battery cover, battery, memory card and stylus. Remove the three screws you see

Run your fingernail around the join of the back cover and then pry the back cover off

Now run your fingernail along the join of the front cover and you’ll hear the clips, which hold the cover on, click. The front cover is on quite tight so use some force to pry the cover off

Your phone will now look like below. Now remove the two screws you can see at the top of the phone

With the front cover removed your phone will look like the picture below

Remove the keypad and lift the part underneath from right to left, as shown below to reveal two more screws. Remove these screws

Remove the metal plate that the screws were holding in place and you now have access to the ribbon which attaches the screen to the circuit board

Detach the ribbon to remove the LCD screen. The ribbon attaches like a plug and socket. Simply lift the ribbon up away from the circuit board to detach it

You have now removed the LCD screen. Reverse the whole procedure for reassembly

    wow.tnx for the tip, been wanting to open up my P1i after its warranty was over so that I could clean the insides. :)

    Thank you for this. I dropped my P1i on the floor some days ago and the screen went black. Although the touch screen was functional I was not able to see what I did on the phone. After following your guide I fixed the LCD screen with simply remove it and reinsert it.
