T270, T280

It looks like our friend at the softpedia concluded that the reason of the T270 canceling is the T280 (or T280i) that was announced at the end of January and in the same press release with T270. There’s no big difference between the two handsets, they literary have the same looks and the same features except that the T280 has a photo camera, while the T270 doesn’t. It seems that the T270 was targeted for business users who are not allowed to use photo cameras in their offices.

But I don’t really see too many businesspersons who would want to have a low-featured mobile phone (and the two T handsets are quite low in features). Sony Ericsson might have thought about this too, therefore the T270 no longer exists on the company’s website and at the link where initially its features and pics were happily welcoming users, now we only get to see an unfriendly “Oh No! 404 – Page not found”. Even if you search the T270 in the website’s database, there’s still no sign of it. This being said, Sony Ericsson T270 is most probably a canceled phone.

Anyway, this cancellation should not come as bad news, since we still have the T280. Sure, the handset only packs an 1.7 inches, 128 x 160 pixels display, 10MB of memory (no microSD slot), a 1.3 Megapixel camera and FM radio, but at least it will be launched. Although not as initially announced (in the first quarter of the year), but only in June, according to the SEMC Blog. Hopefully, T280’s price will be in concordance with its features.
