Last year, a buzz that said that Sony Ericsson K850i is hitting the AT&T in 2008 reached our ears. Recently, a leaked poster was spotted not deep in an AT&T workshop somewhere, proving the truth of the rumor. However, several sources at AT&T stores told Engadget that they’ve been commanded by corporate to toss their K850 promotional materials in the trash. It’s a bit confusing since many people thought that Sony Ericsson wants to grab a more decent share of American pie? Some speculates that the Swedes and Japanese may be introducing some other Cyber-shot phone via AT&T. The K770 perhaps? Or even better some of the new Cxxx models? Now, that would be something…

I work for AT&T and this was very disappointing when I heard we won’t be carrying this phone. I love Sony Ericsson products but the w580 that AT&T carries is pure junk.

I was told by my at&t guy who was told by his SE Rep, that the reason they are tossing the k850i out the door is because SE is going to be comming out with an 8MP camera phone in 4th quarter of this year, and At&t will be the exclusive provider of this phone. The 5mp that At&t will have will be the Nokia N95, which will come out second quarter, and will not have Video share. Whereas the SE phone that is in the K family will not only be 8MP but will also have video share. Hope this info helps.
