Sory for late post about this news. USEB has posted news about new firmwares for W960, the K850 and W910. These phones have just received an update to fix some of the problems and bugs in the firmwares. While we have not noticed many bugs in W960, the K850 and W910 does indeed pack quite a few, especially because they were among the first A200 offerings. Wituh new K850i firmware, it’s much faster in general, no more lagging in Media, new effects and much faster working in Media, 3D games in particular run much more smoothly now. The camera has been much improved as well, and same goes for video recordings. Another fine new feature is that you can set the phone to vibrate when using the touch sensitive buttons - this works quite well.
Now for some technical stuff. The K850 firmware is called R1EA031, and is not a major release. The W910 firmware is called R1EA030, and has pretty much the same improvements as with the K850. The W960 firmware CDA is called R6G02.

Rumored times before, now the PSP phone rumor is in the public again. According to Sony Magazine, SE is developing PSP Style phone . The magazine says “A new PSP-STYLE PHONE is apparently in development. There are even suggestion that it could be in the shops as early as February.” Sounds pretty interesting but it’s actually nothing new. We have heard this kind of rumors before and even Jim Ryan from Sony Computer sated that PSP phone is “definitely plausible”
Other rumor also claims that Sony Ericsson will announce gaming phone in February. Well, it’s already February. Let’s see what happens!

We know that XPERIA X1 will be release on the late of this year. So it’s normal if the phone should use latest OS of Windows Mobile. But the newest WM OS will debut in September or October and it will bring some major changes to the interface. Microsoft will not happy if this OS leaked.
Now check out these photos of the XPERIA X1. It clearly shows that it’s running Windows Mobile 6.1, which is not announced yet. This was why the Sony Ericsson representatives would not show any more of the operating system or demo anything but the XPERIA panels on the X1. Furthermore it shows that X1 is running a 528 MHz CPU with the Qualcomm 7200A chipset. More pictures after the jump

Great phone got great award. Sony Ericsson’s W910i Walkman cellphone has been named the GSM Associations’ Best Handset of 2008, singling out the music handset from strong competition in a year where HSDPA and EV-DO Rev.A high-speed cellular wireless has seen mobile phones blur the lines with dedicated PMPs.
Sony Ericsson W910i left behind great handsets, such as Nokia 6500 Classic and Samsung SGH-G600. The W910i was launched last year and it’s designed for entertainment; whether music, 3D games, video, or high-speed Web access. It’s also geared to let consumers choose their music just the way they want it. Applications such as Shake control enable them to flick the phone to control games or skip and shuffle between music tracks while SenseMeTM lets them discover music to match their mood and tempo. With its 1GB Memory Stick Micro provided in box, the W910 Walkman phone can hold over 900 songs with room for plenty more thanks to its expandable memory.

People always describes megapixel count for camera quality. But tell that to the marketing department of some cellphone vendor. For the guys and gals working there, it’s like saying saying that special effects and gadgets are not important in the next James Bond movie.
So the megapixel war in a cameraphones will continue for years to come, just as it continues in a digital still camera category today. This year we will see 8 megapixel cameras in mobile phones, and the next year…
The next year we are getting to 12 megapixel camera range in your mobile handset. Thank’s to the newly announced Ericsson U500 mobile platform.
The features of Ericsson U500 chipset include:

XPERIA X1 could be one of the most innovative phone from SE this year. Unlike anything Sony Ericsson have made before, the X1 is a curved slider smartphone with a 3-inch VGA wide-aspect touchscreen, full QWERTY keyboard and Windows Mobile OS. On top of that, SE have developed what they’re calling the XPERIA Panel Interface, a group of nine desktop sections that you can re-order and use to access the functionality of the phone.

Apart from the X1, Sony Ericsson also announced two UIQ based smartphones – G700 and G900. Both are equipped with touch screens, and good cameras. The G700 features a 3.2 mega pixel camera with fixed focus and the G900 features a 5 mega pixel camera with auto focus. It’s not normal auto focus, though. It’s a new sort of focus, where you can press the area of interest on the phone display, and it’ll automatically focus on this area. Really smart!
Both phones are candy bar models with a 2.4 inch large display. The display is capable of showing up to 262.144 colours, and is QVGA resolution (240 x 320 pixels).

Finally! for the first time Sony Ericsson announced a device based on the Windows Mobile platform – the XPERIA X1. The phone is still in its early phases of development, but at least it will features Windows Mobile OS and comes with a 3 inch VGA display apart from a unique arc slider QWERTY keypad design.
“We have never worked with Windows Mobile (earlier) and we wanted to be technology agnostic from the consumer demand perspective. We didn’t go for Android as we don’t see a big benefit in creating the base software. Moreover, we are not making a Windows Mobile device, it is a Sony Ericsson phone and is different from other Windows Mobile devices,” said Rikko Sakaguchi, senior vice president and head of portfolio and propositions, Sony Ericsson in an exclusive interaction with CellPassion.
